FOREST

A road leading to, or coming from, a forest implies some mystery as to what can be found beyond what the eye can see. It lets one’s mind imagine and dream.

Mount Cheminis and Flooded Forest

Additional comments:

Lake Osisko, which separates Rouyn from Noranda, was highly polluted by mine tailings until the 1970s, but now it is much healthier.

The dead forest at the foreground of Mount Cheminis might have been flooded by beavers, an ‘engineering’ species very active in those areas (northern Ontario and Quebec).

Clemence St. Laurent has traveled extensively in Europe and many of her paintings describe scenes from the countries she visited.
